Her vocal talent was discovered at Southwood Middle School for the Arts while enrolled in the Music Magnet Program. Shortly afterward, she attended the School for Advanced Studies and later obtained her Associate Degree in Arts with honors from Miami Dade Community College. Jean graduated from the University of Miami School of Music, cum laude, in 2004. Her repertoire has been showcased in a variety of local and national events including Opera theatre productions, art galleries, sporting events, and corporate and social gatherings. Notable favorites include performing at the Miami Arena and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Although teaching at Charles R. Drew Elementary, Jean remains active in the community, receiving recognition by the Archdiocese of Miami for outstanding dedication at her parish, St. Joachim Catholic Church. In July of 2005, several thousands of dollars from her last appearance were donated to a variety of outreach programs at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church. Jean continues her vocal training under the direction of Bella Griffith-Smith. Aspiring to become an internationally renowned performer and philanthropist, she strongly believes her efforts will be successful because she places God first in everything she does. ***

Oboist Kevin Pearl is an 18-year-old senior at Taravella High School in Coral Springs. He began playing the oboe in the sixth grade and became principal oboe of the All-State 7-8 Grade Band in the eighth grade. Since then, he has been principal oboe in many honor bands and orchestras, including the South Florida Honor Band Wind Ensemble, Festival of Winds Wind Ensemble, All-County Band, All-County Orchestra, All-State Band, and All-State Orchestra.
In his sophomore year Kevin was selected to be a member
of the Honor Band of America, directed by Eugene
Corporon. In addition to the Coral Gables Symphony &
Opera, Kevin has been featured as soloist with the Ars
Flores Symphony Orchestra, the Hollywood Philharmonic,
and high school orchestras.
Currently he is principal oboe of the Florida Youth
Orchestra's Senior Orchestra, a position he has held
throughout high school, and is a member of the Broward
Youth Chamber Orchestra. With the FYO Senior Orchestra,
Kevin had the honor of performing at the John F. Kennedy
Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and
has recorded two CDs with the ensemble. A recipient of
the selective First Lady's Arts Recognition Scholarship,
Kevin recently travelled to Tallahassee to perform at
the Governor's Mansion. He has been invited to join
Who's Who of American High Schools and the National
Honor Roll.
Kevin studied at the Eastern Music Festival and the
Boston University Tanglewood Institute, where for two
summers he performed with the Young Artists Orchestra
and studied with John Ferrillo. This summer Kevin will
study at the Aspen Music Festival and School in the
studios of Elaine Douvas and Richard Woodhams. Kevin
studies privately with Robert Weiner, Professor of Oboe
at the University of Miami, and will attend the Eastman
School of Music in the fall.
Kevin chose the unique voice of the oboe after hearing
it while performing with the Florida Philharmonic as a
member of Florida's Singing Sons Boy Choir. Its
challenges have kept him busy yet fulfilled and offer a
limitless potential which keeps coming back for hours of
practice and reed-making each day.
Kevin hopes to play oboe professionally in any way
possible after college study. Ideally, he will perform
with a symphony orchestra while teaching privately, but
is open to freelance/studio recording work and service
band membership. As long as he can play the oboe and
maintain a living, he will be more than happy.
The decision to follow the professional musician route
was solidified gradually through continual success and a
personal passion for music. Kevin is extremely grateful
for all the support he has received from his parents,
friends, and many teachers who have helped further his
life in music.
