Initiated by Bella Griffith-Smith, founder and artistic director of the Coral Gables Chamber Symphony and Opera Company, a 501c3 organization dedicated to encouraging young musicians to learn and perform classical music selections, American Ideal is a free concert performed before an audience of elementary school children and interested adults. It is recorded and presented by WLRN Channel 17 (PBS) during the summer.
